The Thoroughly Modern Mid-Market
Tech refresh is a potent sales message for solution providers when they can show midsize customers how the latest printing and imaging technologies improve operations through faster performance and lower costs for maintenance and power consumption. Now it appears to be a message that is resonating throughout the IT infrastructure.
Speaking at the recent Everything Channel’s Midsize Enterprise Summit, Gartner analyst Dale Vecchio said IT modernization has become an imperative for medium-sized businesses. "What you want to do now is different than the way you built IT. All kinds of things that have happened in the last 20 years have started to change the way we do business and [the old] IT doesn't fit anymore,” CRN magazine quoted the research vice president. “New things happen: outsourcing, global competition have changed the way we interact with customers.”
According to CRN, Vecchio told the gathering that several modernization drivers are gathering steam, including social networking, business intelligence, and especially green business practices.
"Green is everything now. You have no idea how many companies are concerned about not just green as it relates to IT, but to business,” the analyst said. “The amount of power consumed to run computers is unbelievable."
